Rules and eligibility
To participate in the Annual Australian Qur'an Competition, applicants must meet the following requirements. Please read this page carefully before registering.
General eligibility
Must be a resident of Australia at the time of registration and competition
Must complete the official AAQC registration form in full
Must select a valid competition category
Must be available for all required stages including qualifiers and finals
Age requirements
- Participants must meet the age criteria for their selected category
- Youth categories are open to participants under 18 years of age
- Proof of age may be requested at any stage of the competition
Memorisation requirements
- Participants must have fully memorised either 30, 20 or 10 Juz
- Participants must recite from any requested point without prompting
- Judges may test continuity from random passages during recitation
Conduct and integrity
AAQC holds the dignity of the Qur'an and the integrity of the competition to the highest standard. All participants are expected to uphold proper adab and respectful conduct throughout the competition.
Maintain adab
Conduct yourself respectfully at all stages of the competition.
Follow instructions
Participants must follow all directions from organisers and judges.
Protect integrity
Dishonest or disruptive behaviour may result in disqualification.
Documentation and consent
- All information provided during registration must be truthful
- Parents or guardians must provide consent for minors
- Participants agree to recitations being recorded for official purposes
Final decisions regarding participation
AAQC reserves the right to verify eligibility at any stage of the competition and make final decisions regarding participation.
Where eligibility cannot be confirmed, or information is found to be inaccurate, AAQC may withdraw a participant's registration.
All decisions made by the competition committee regarding eligibility are final.
Common questions
What happens if I register in the wrong category?
Participants who register in an incorrect category may be disqualified if requirements are not met.
Can a participant be disqualified after the competition starts?
Yes. Disqualification may occur at any stage if conduct or eligibility standards are breached.
Is there an appeals process?
Eligibility decisions are final. Procedural concerns may be submitted in writing within 24 hours.
