About the Annual Australian Qur'an Competition
The Annual Australian Quran Competition (AAQC) was established by a group of young men to provide a national, dignified platform for honouring the Qur’an. It is the only event of its kind in Australia, bringing together communities from across the country in a shared commitment to preserving and celebrating the tradition of Quranic recitation.
Guided by scholars, shaped by community and centred on the Qur’an, AAQC reflects a collective responsibility to uphold both excellence and adab in the recitatio and memorisation of the Book of Allah. This is not simply a competition. It is a national gathering — one that brings together youth, scholars and families in a shared space of reflection, discipline and reverence. At its heart is a living tradition, passed from generation to generation with care, precision and sincerity. For over 1400 years, the Qur’an has been preserved through memorisation and recitation. Today, millions across the world continue this tradition.
AAQC exists to honour that legacy in Australia — nurturing the next generation to engage with the Qur’an with excellence, integrity and purpose.
